Africa Job Creation Summit (AJCS)
Convened by SOI Foundation
The Africa Job Creation Summit (AJCS), convened by SOI Foundation, seeks to provide a transformative multi-stakeholder platform that brings together governments, development partners, private sector leaders, innovation hubs, investors, academia, youth organizations, and international institutions to develop practical, scalable, and sustainable pathways for employment generation across Africa.
Africa stands at a defining demographic and economic crossroads. With over 60% of its population below the age of 25, the continent possesses the largest youth workforce globally (World economic Forum, 2023). However, this demographic advantage continues to face severe threats from unemployment, underemployment, low industrial productivity, widening digital inequality, and weak pathways between education, innovation, and economic participation (African Development Bank, 2024; Barasa & Kiiru, 2024).
In Nigeria alone, NBS, reported in 2025 that 13 millions young people are unemployed (i.e. over 42.5% struggling for their livelihood). This number increases yearly as youths graduate into an economy unable to absorb their talents and aspirations. Traditional employment models are rapidly shrinking while emerging opportunities in the digital economy, green economy, creative industries, agribusiness, technology, manufacturing, and entrepreneurship remain largely inaccessible to vulnerable populations due to gaps in skills, financing, policy coordination, and ecosystem support (International Labour Organization [ILO], 2023; African Development Bank, 2024; United Nations Development Programme [UNDP], 2023).
The Africa Job Creation Summit (AJCS), convened by SOI Foundation, seeks to provide a transformative multi-stakeholder platform that brings together governments, development partners, private sector leaders, innovation hubs, investors, academia, youth organizations, and international institutions to develop practical, scalable, and sustainable pathways for employment generation across Africa.
AJCS is designed to move beyond dialogue into actionable frameworks by facilitating partnerships, policy recommendations, investment pipelines, innovation showcases, entrepreneurship incubation linkages, and regional collaboration mechanisms aimed at accelerating inclusive job creation.
The summit is envisioned as an annual flagship platform that positions Africa’s youth not as beneficiaries of development, but as drivers of economic transformation, innovation, and enterprise.
